PACK software provides system control over printing, ensuring that all
print jobs are either paid or accounted for. The software runs on any
MS-Windows system and may be used as a stand-alone controller or work
with a network of printers. Two methods of control are provided: cash or
debit payment, and database accounting via a PIN. Once a print job has
been submitted the software prevents the job from being printed until
the user has paid for the job by either inserting a debit card, paying
cash via a coin or bill acceptor or entering a PIN. The system
administrator may configure the system to use one or all of the
available methods. Usage reporting and account maintenance is provided
via an ODBC data source and an easy to use interface. While control is
currently limited to printers future development will provide control
over the keyboard and mouse as well allowing the administrator to charge
for any use of the computer. Use for this software extends to any
environment where printing and computer costs need to be recovered.
Currently there is high demand in education institutions, libraries, law
offices, and commercial copier and printer entities such as Kinko's etc.
